The Queensland Government is funding 20 clean energy places in Engineers Australia’s Global Engineering Talent Program (GET).

The below article was first published by Engineers Australia on 6 May 2024.

This funding is part of the Clean Energy Workforce Roadmap to secure the skilled workforce requirements to meet the state’s targets of 70 per cent renewable energy by 2032 and 80 per cent by 2035.

To secure these 20 places, Engineers Australia is looking for businesses in Queensland that are part of the clean energy transition in need of skilled engineers to support this growing sector.

Engineers Australia is committed to leading the way on diversity and inclusion across the profession. Research shows a diverse and inclusive workforce improves staff engagement, enhances decision-making and can improve business outcomes and profitability.

The GET program is designed to fill the demand for skilled roles and help overseas qualified engineers to overcome barriers to gaining work.

As part of Engineers Australia’s strategy to reduce the engineering skills shortage, the GET program aims to provide a steady pipeline of skilled engineers ready to contribute to projects.

This 18-week initiative supports businesses with recruitment and onboarding. Specialists match businesses needs to talent with global expertise, prepare participants for the Australian workplace through learning and development, and provide a mentor for a 12-week work placement.

All Queensland-located businesses and engineering disciplines can be considered. However, positions offered to GET Program candidates must be related to clean energy.
