Just like electricians, engineers and architects must comply with electrical safety standards. Enforceable AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules apply to all premises and land. Your compliance keeps everyone safe.
In this self-paced course, you'll look at the two parts of the AS/NZS 3000 standard for electrical installations:
- Part 1 covers the main regulatory requirements for a safe installation.
- Part 2 covers how to comply with the requirements of Part 1.
Part 2 includes a 'deemed-to-comply' guide.
Using easy-to-follow webinars with practical examples, you'll cover:
- how legislation requires the use of Australian Standards
- how electricity regulators oversee safety and standards in each state and territory
- the concepts in AS/NZS 3000 such as earthing, fault protection and testing
- how to demonstrate you've met WHS requirements.
You'll also look at the enhancements added to AS/NZS 3000 in 2018. You'll see how these extras aim to protect the general population and animals, and ensure infrastructure is not destroyed during an emergency.
After completing the course, you'll understand the core electrical safety concepts in the wiring rules and related standards. You'll also be able to use several methods to ensure safety when designing electrical solutions.

Provides a good overview of electrical standards and wiring rules. The videos were a great addition and the pointers to where further information is available was very useful.
It's well-structured and gives the right amount of information and guidance to find further information as required. I liked that I could complete the course in my own time.
Very valuable knowledge shared by the instructor, presented in an easy to understand format. The course can be completed in a few hours if wanted, however [more time should be spent to investigate all resources provided] including all links, extended activities, and fully reading AS/NZS 3000.
