Manage your legal risks and avoid costly mistakes by understanding Security of Payment laws.

Overview
Manage your legal risks and avoid costly mistakes by understanding Security of Payment laws.

Security of Payment (SOPA) laws have often been referred to as “pay now, argue later” legislation.

These laws (which are different in each state and territory) help contractors to secure payments for their work, acting as both a legal “sword” and a “shield” for people and firms in the construction sector.

However, if you’re a professional who works in the construction sector, you risk making costly legal and financial mistakes if you aren’t aware of your responsibilities under these laws.

In this interactive course, a practicing commercial and construction lawyer will guide you through the general objectives and the breadth of SOPA laws, as well as the critical timings you need to meet.

You’ll leave this course with a new understanding your legal rights and obligations, whether you’re responsible for issuing progress and payment claims, or responding to them.
